How are Americans in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua treated? How are expats in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua treated generally?

San Juan del Sur are treated with respect, kindness and generally good nature.Nicaraguans are very caring and good people, who only ask to be treated with respect. One of the biggest assets this country has is its people and their good nature.
We welcome Americans, and people from every country for that matter, to come enjoy Nicaragua and all of the beauties it has to offer. You won´t be treated badly.

The expats are treated very well here in San Juan Del Sur. I am Portuguese born and lived in Canada. I came here about three years ago and I felt like I was at home. Nicaraguans do not discriminate against expats.
I lived in Costa Rica for seven years and out there, they do discriminate against foreigners. For the seven years that I was there, I never made any Costa Rican friends, whereas here in San Juan Del Sur, I already have good Nicaraguan friends and it’s only...

The Nicaraguans in San Juan del Sur do not care where you are from or what the color of your skin may be; they accept expats like their own.

Expats in San Juan Del Sur are treated great. You get treated how you treat others. Nicaraguans are big-hearted people.  They like to see some respect and a smile from you first but as soon as you smile and look someone in the eyes, the same is given back to you.

Most Nicaraguans are shy by nature. When they meet people, they’re not outgoing or super friendly. Nicaraguans are a little bit subdued. They see so many different tourists and expats here in San Juan del Sur that they will wait for you to make the first move to show the kind of person that you are.
