Are there hurricanes in Panama?

The Republic of Panama is safely located outside of the ferocious, nasty hurricane belt. A hurricane has NEVER struck Panama - NOT EVER! Panama = NO Hurricanes. May be one of the the top reasons why my wife and I relocated from the US to Panama.
While in Florida during 2004 & 2005 my wife and I (and Calico Cat) endured Wilma = $29.2 billion damage, Charley = $18.2 billion damage, Ivan =$18.1 billion damage, Frances = $10.4 billion damage,...

Actually during September 2004 we were whacked by both Frances and Jeanne and for a period of time we were homeless and forced to live with friends - OUCH!
See how my beloved Panama is safely located out of harm's way of any hurricanes - :)!
When it comes to Panama weather we just love to say NO! NO Hurricanes, NO Tornadoes, NO Snow, NO Blizzards, NO Sleet, NO Hail, NO Freezing Temperatures, NO Ice except in our margarita glasses -
So Come To Panama & Turn YOUR Frown Upside Down!

I agree that Panama is outside of the area that is regularly hit by hurricanes. But it is not accurate to say that a hurricane has never hit Panama.

No, there are no hurricanes in Panama. Panama is well below the hurricane line. In addition, Panama is facing east and west so hurricanes come in from the east and swing up northwest.

Although generally correct that Panama does not see hurricanes, it is factually incorrect to say its NEVER seen one in recorded history. In fact, there has been one- Hurricane Martha in 1969.

There are no hurricanes in Panama at all. Here in Panama, we have the rainy season, and just like in every tropical country, the rainy season is a long part of the year. That’s nine months of rainy season, but with very tolerable amounts of rain. In my experience, there has never been a hurricane in Panama.Panama is too far south to have hurricanes. Hurricanes will hit further up north, but Panama is protected by Venezuela or Colombia. It’s extremely unlikely that...

It’s extremely unlikely that Panama will ever get a hurricane and it certainly isn’t something that happens regularly.
